Travel Gear Review: The sweat, odor and stain proof Ably T-shirt

Travel can be a real pain in the ass on your gear. Months of dirt, debris, spills and hand washing takes its toll. This is why I was intrigued by the claims of Ably Apparel and their Filium technology. I bought a white shirt just so I could test it in the field. This is my first review for the Ably T.

NOTE: This is an independent review. They did not ask me or hire me to review this product. I also get no compensation from the review or the link below. It is only there to make your life easier.

Hi, do you think that Ably shorts or trousers could be good for hyperidrosis problems?

Mate you got it all wrong with the curry stain test – all the info on the Ably website tells you to rinse the stain away with water. You tried to wipe it way and then use a paper towel or something soaked in water to dab/wipe the stain away – fail . Anyway, good vid, I think I’ll invest in a couple of those tees

Ivan, Thanks for emailing us with a link to your video. It looks like your travels takes you to some incredible places. As Matt mentioned below, the key to removing spills is to simply rinse the sauce away with water. Trying to wipe the spill away, you’re just rubbing the sauce into the cotton fibers, which will come out when you wash it but like you experienced you’ll have a mark on your shirt until you can get back to your hotel room.

We have a new Care Instruction video on our youtube channel that explains this.

Please keep us posted as you continue to travel with your Ably® shirt.

    Thanks for the review.
    Ably

next time you spill something thick like curry sauce instead of an actual thin liquid, instead of wiping it off (rubbing it in) try pouring water, or some liquid over it. If the shirt is truly hydrophobic like that it should just run it off instead of sticking
