Your content is also presented well and to the point. Glad I found you on YouTube keep it up!

I would never ever check my gear even coming back from a trip though, spares or not. I’m very attached to to it lol.

Why is it a pain to use the f stop bag for hand luggage?

Regarding not putting the camera gear in checked baggage, please remember that airlines do have weight and size restrictions for carryon baggage (at least in Australia they do).

Low cost carriers like jetstar and tiger airways will weight you carry on at time of boarding and if you are over 7kg, you will be forced to check the bag in and pay a fee (usually around $50).

A soft camera bag loose in a luggage hold is not good !

Invest in a lockable hard case, check it in and lable it clearly.

I’m starting to learn about cameras right now as I’d like some better than average photos etc of japan , Ive bought a cheap Nikon DSLR which is an old camera but at least I can learn first before I spend a lot on equipment, great video cheers πŸ₯‚

Wait!!! You forgot to bring up the issues with weight restrictions with carry on. The local regionals in Asia (Airasia, Cebu Pacific) have a very tight limit. 7 lbs only. Practically it’s not possible to carry so much necessary gear. In my travels throughout Asia, I have had so many times the check in desk asked me to weigh my backpack. It was always over a few lbs (too easy to do). What are your thoughts on how you deal with the weight carry on limits?

Don’t have a lot of gear yet. MacBook Air, Phone, Drone, and Camera not the best camera but it works. Good stuff Javen!

Great tips. You mention traveling without a laptop and using a hard drive to back up the memory cards, what specific options/hard drives (WD My passport?) can you use to back up, without having a laptop with you? What’s a good option?

Jeven what i did when i traveled is if you know wear your staying i would pack a create or box’s and ship it to wear i would be staying with FedX so it got there the same day. I always would have 3 to 4 case’s 51+ lbs so it was a lot cheaper and you do
not need to lug it all to your rental car. I was getting airline bills for 400.00 just for luggage FEDX only about 100.00 and do the same on the way back. All the high priced stuff i would carry on with me.

Know exactly what you are talking about here! It can be a pain in the a#& with all the gizmos. I think I have like 6 diffrent backpacks for diffrent situations. Drone+GoPro+SD-card HDD=Take X bag, OSMO+Drone=Take Y bag etc. I think there is no system in place, create a system that works for you. But you got to have one. Awesome video, thanks for sharing!
